I knew a wonderful lady who was a musician & was studying to become a speech therapist as well. She was the choir director & organist at my church parish. Outisde of church hours she tuaght elementary school. When she decided she wanted to study speech pathology she enrolled at UVA to get her graduate degree.
She nver made it. She died tragically young at the age of 52.
I think she was very smart, doing so well in two totally unrelated fields, music & speech therapy. She was also a wonderful person & very funny.
I'm glad I knew her. Of course I miss her a lot. She would have enjoyed The King's Speech movie very much. I saw The King's Speech last week when we went to the Mill House social program. I loved it. It was a smashing, jolly good movie. If my friend were still around I would definitely have told her about my love of Cambridge. I think she had some English ancestry, because she imitated the English accent so flawlessly, & enjoyed the TV commercials & programs that had English performers in them. I would have asked her to take pictures of King's College Chapel & Choir for me.
Of course I miss her a lot. I'm glad I knew her.
